Service Retainer

A retainer is utilized to protect all parties during an investigation or other service offering. This allows a clear agreement of billing rate, services to be performed with specific goals for services rendered, and terms of payment. Although no guarantees can be made in terms of investigative results, the retainer allows each party to address how the assignment(s) are to be handled, who is responsible for the payment of the invoice, who should be given investigative reports, and why services are being rendered.

Litigation Investigators utilized an “evergreen” retainer in some instances, and in others, a standard retainer agreement for invoiced services that are due on receipt. An evergreen retainer is a retainer by which an upfront specified amount is paid to secure professional services and when the amount remaining in the retainer drops below a specified figure, the retainer is replenished to the original agreed-upon amount. The fee can be adjusted as the scope of work varies so that the amount can be raised or lowered as needed to maintain services.

We also offer short and long-term retainers for businesses that need ongoing investigative services. These service contracts often provide for a negotiated contract rate and a monthly fee to maintain the contract.
